The Twinning Association of Rushmoor is a community association that assists in organising cultural and educational exchanges between clubs, schools and organisations in Farnborough/Aldershot and those in its twin towns in Meudon (France), Oberursel (Germany) and Sulechów (Poland). Thanks to the Twinning Association, in 2012 the Borough of Rushmoor won the second highest award in the Council of Europe’s prize scheme which recognises the active promotion of European partnerships and links within its community. Only two other local authorities in the UK have ever won this award.
The Association receives no funding at all and like most community associations, has to rely on its own fundraising and bids for grants. The profits of this evening will go directly to the association to assist in events during the next year.
In Farnborough and Aldershot, there are over thirty groups that have active links with one or more twin towns. The College has benefitted from strong relationships with the twin towns. In 2015 - 16 there are trips planned to a Chopin Festival in Sulechów (Poland), Marché de Noel in Meudon (France) and will be performing in Oberursel (Germany).
